Becoming a Host
Hosting requires a Gig Game subscription — there's no separate application or approval beyond that. Sign in through Gig Game, and the very first time you do, you're taken straight into naming your galaxy and building it.
The Big Bang — Building Your Galaxy
Nothing exists yet at this point — no sectors, no ports, no planets, nobody to command. A handful of basics are right up front; everything else sits behind an "Advanced" disclosure with sensible defaults already filled in, so a first-time host can just hit the button, and a returning one can tune every dial.
| Setting | Default | What it actually does |
|---|---|---|
| Galaxy name | Andromeda | Shown everywhere — console, HUD, browse listing. Renameable later from Settings. |
| Turns per day | 250 | Every commander's daily turn allowance. Change any time from Settings, no rebuild needed. |
| Starting credits | 300cr | What a brand-new commander begins with. Changing it later only affects commanders who join afterward. |
| Starting fighters | 30 | Loaded on every commander's ship at first join, after a respawn, and on any ship bought afterward — not just the opening moment. |
| Starting ship | Runabout | Which of the 16 hulls (see Ships & Combat) every new commander begins with. Picking a pricier hull hands it out free, bypassing whatever alignment/experience/commission it normally requires. |
| Max players | 0 (unlimited) | Hard cap on total commanders. Once full, nobody new can join until a slot frees up. |
| Visibility | Public | Public galaxies are listed and searchable on the public galaxy listing with a real description; private ones are only reachable by direct invite link. Flip it any time from Settings. |
Under Advanced — shaping the actual galaxy generation, all optional:
- Sector count (default 500) and grid width/height (default 100×100) — how big the plane is and how sparse it feels.
- Stability factor (25-100, default 100) — the single dial behind "how warped is space" (see Navigation & the Galaxy). 100% is dense and mostly two-way; 25% is a sparse, mostly one-way maze.
- Worm count, random seed — inter-plane wormhole density, and a fixed seed to reproduce an exact layout for testing.
- Port density (10%), planet density (5%), star sector density (20%) — independent per-sector odds for each.
- Tavern count (20), Federation patrol ships (3), pirate/raider ships (5), black market ports (2) — the plane's NPC and black-market population.
- Plane background — one of six nebula backdrops, or Auto to cycle through them across multiple planes.
The Host Console
Once generated, every visit to your console lands on the real dashboard: live commander and plane counts, and a tab for every system you're running.
Reward the People Actually in the Room
A bar, a convention booth, a game night organizer — whoever's running the sysop console behind your universe, the console turns this game into a real promotional tool: reward the people actually in the room, and put your own message on the screen everyone's already watching. Nothing here needs a developer or the game's own source code — it's all built into the console.
All three live in the console under Promos, Branding, and each port's own Tavern panel — nothing here requires touching the game's code or asking anyone for help.
